Safety to Operations, and Back Again – What Operations Leaders Need from Safety Pro’s

Brian D. Long is Vice President, Global Health, Safety & Environment, at Eastman. Brian is responsible for Eastman’s GHSE function which includes Health & Safety compliance, Process Safety & Risk Management as well as Environmental Awareness & Natural Resources Stewardship.

Prior to Eastman, Brian served as Global Director, EHS & Operations Sustainability for the Chemours Company and held leadership positions of increasing responsibility in both manufacturing and the GHSE functions, including multiple Plant Manager and Operations positions for both DuPont and Chemours Companies. Brian has over 27 years of chemical & materials science manufacturing experience including a track-record leading transformations that improve culture and performance.

A native of Madisonville, Kentucky, Brian holds both Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Safety & Occupational Health from Murray State University. Brian and his wife have four children. He enjoys fly fishing and the outdoors.

Featured Speaker: Ken Alexandrow

Preventing Workplace Violence

Ken Alexandrow, founder of AGAPE Tactical, spent twenty-six years serving the citizens of middle Tennessee as a career police officer. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer and then was appointed to the Metro Nashville Police Academy as a confrontation management and firearms instructor. Next, he was selected to serve on the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force where he led investigations in bank robbery and extortion cases for high profile celebrities and citizens. He concluded his career as a Field Training Officer where he had the opportunity to supervise and train new police officers on how to apply their academy knowledge to real life situations on the street.

Ken uses his law enforcement experience to teach active shooter response, personal protection, handgun carry permit, and advanced handgun, rifle and shotgun classes to private citizens. He specializes in helping schools, businesses and religious organizations develop plans for providing a safe learning, working and worshipping environment for their employees, members and guests. Ken testifies as a use of force expert in judicial cases. He is interviewed regularly by local news outlets and has been featured on Fox News Network.
